Leah Williamson

Position: Defender

Club: Arsenal WFC

Let’s start off with the Teams Captain. Williamson led the lionesses to their last Euro victory in 2022. In fact, she made history as the first woman to lift a major trophy with England.

She has a wealth of experience, with 63 senior caps.

Williamson also played a special part in the UEFA Women’s cup final aged 10, when she was a mascot for the lionesses. Kelly Smith, the then Captain, signed a photo and told Williamson to “dream big”.

Lucy Bronze

Position: Defender

Club: Chelsea FC Women

Bronze is often noted as one of the best footballers in the world, receiving Best FIFA Women’s player in 2020.

This final she is set to make history as Englands most capped player in Euro history, with 16 matches played. This may be her last tournament before retiring.

Her ability is so strong that she excels in almost any position on the pitch. Despite playing defence she scored the key goal against Sweden this tournament.

With her middle name literally being Tough, if anyone is going to bring the cup home it will be Lucy Bronze.

Chloe Kelly

Club: Arsenal WFC

Position: Forward

Chloe Kelly is often the lionesses hidden weapon. She is the only England player to score as a substitute in two separate major tournament knockout matches- the Euro 2022 final and the semi final this year.

Kelly played an enormous role in our last win with her pacing and ‘go-getter’ attitude. Let’s see what she can do in the finals this year.

Michelle Agyemang

Club: Arsenal WFC

Position: forward

Michelle Agyemang has shot into the spotlight this year. At just 19 years old, she has kept us in the game and made some big moments in history.

With her goal against Italy at minute 90+6, she breaks the record for the youngest English player ever- male or female- to score in the semis. Go Agyemang!

Her humble and focused approach is just what we need for success this Sunday.

Beth Mead

Position: forward

Club: Arsenal WFC

Beth Mead has a history of scoring those goals. When she played for Sunderland, she scored 77 times in 78 games. During the last Euros, she scored 6 times, proving crucial for our win.

Forced out of the 2023 World Cup due to an ACL injury, Mead has come back with more determination than ever. Could she be a scorer this Sunday?

Lauren Hemp

Position: Forward

Club: Manchester City WFC

Lauren Hemp started in all six games when we won the last Euros. In her career, she has scored 19 goals for the Women’s National Football Team.

Hemp brings skill, pacing and insight to the game. In a recent interview she said: “I love playing and football matches where we need to win, they're the games you wanna be involved in.”

Could this mean we will see her starting in the final?

Ella Toone

Position: Midfielder

Club: Manchester United WFC

Ella Toone is one of our key players. The midfielder has already scored 2 goals in the tournament so far.

She was also one of the lionesses who bought back the cup in the last Euros, scoring our first goal against Germany in the finals.

Could she be key to securing our victory?

Hannah Hampton

Postion: Goal Keeper

Club: Chelsea FC Women’s

Hannah Hampton has saved some nail biting attempts this competition. She brings experience to the team- having been part of the squad for the 2022 Euros as well as the 2023 women’s world cup where England made it to the finals.

Hampton emulates true the lioness spirit of not giving up. She has an eye condition called strabismus, which means her eyes don’t look in the same direction as eachother. This means she finds it harder to judge depths.

Growing up, she was told she could never pursue a career as a professional footballer. Despite this, she went after her dreams and we are so glad that she did!

Jess Carter

Postion: defender

Club: Gotham FC

Jess Carter is a defender this year. Once again, she is another player who competed last tournament, and started five matches for the lionesses.

Carter is a versatile player who has previously played defence and midfield. She brings a host of skills to the team and is a strong contender to start in the match on Sunday.

Esmé Morgan

Position: Defender

Club: Washington Spirit

This year was Esme Morgan’s major tournament debut. The 24 year old currently plays for American club, Washington Spirit. However, she is proud of her Sheffield roots and a patron for the Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity.

The defender brings a sense of grit to the game. Talking about the quarter final, she said: I really had a sense throughout the game, even when we were down, that it wasn’t our time to go.”

Keira Walsh

Position: Midfield

Club: Chelsea FC Women

Keira Walsh is a key player who knows how to a win a trophy.

She bought home the SheBelieves Cup (2019), the inaugural Arnold Clark Cup in both 2022 and 2023, and the Women's Finalissima (2023).

Can her skills help us stay refining champion?

Alessia Russo

Postion: forward

Club: Arsenal WFC

Alessia Russo has started 5 matches this tournament and we definitely need her skills in the final.

The best way to introduce her as a player is by her iconic back-heel goal in the semi-finals against Sweden last Euros. What a shot!

She also scored twice against Northern Ireland the same year.

Russo has certainly proved herself as a valuable member of the team. Could she be a scorer on Sunday?

The Big Match

So now you know a bit more about some of the Lionesses at representing us at the UEFA Women’s Euro Final.

It looks like we are in good hands. But will it be enough to come out reigning champion against Spain?

The match kicks off on Sunday the 27th of July at 5pm BST (UK time).
