The Met Gala is a celebration of individuality, art, and expression—and this year was no exception. With the theme "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," the dress code invited attendees to explore Black style and the history of dandyism. From ASAP Rocky to Pamela Anderson, the 2025 celebrities in attendance rocked the runway wearing this year's most intricate and extravagant designs. Here is, in my opinion, a look at some of the best (and worst) looks of 2025 as a Met Gala enthusiast!

Sydney Sweeney appeared at her fourth Met Gala wearing a black sequin Miu Miu gown, said to be a tribute to former actress and painter Kim Novak, who she plays in the new movie Scandalous!. The dress also featured beaded shoulder sleeves, a keyhole cutout, and a gold floral brooch in the center. I think this is definitely one of Sweeney’s best Met Gala looks.
It was on theme, classy, stylish, and the hair and makeup were flawless. The silhouette of the dress perfectly accentuated her features, and there wasn’t an alternative element—like a bold piece of jewelry or an intricate hairstyle—to take away from her overall look. This was definitely one of my favorite looks from the evening.

2. Anok Yai
Model Anok Yai stunned on the Met Gala carpet in a Thom Browne gown. The sleeveless dress, emulating old Hollywood glamour, featured a figure-hugging silhouette, a collared neck with a black bowtie, black embellished fabric, and a mermaid-style bottom with stiff white fabric. She matched the dress with a pair of opera gloves.
Perfectly on theme, I think Anok Yai absolutely nailed this look. From the intricacy of the dress to the simplicity of her accessories, the outfit struck just the right balance of flair and cohesiveness. I also appreciate how she's subtly leaning into the theme of masculinity, with her evening gown modeled after a men’s suit. After all, dandyism is "the use of fashion to combat systems of oppression," sexism included.
3. La La Anthony
Paying homage to Virgil Abloh, the late fashion designer and founder of Off-White, La La Anthony dominated the Met Gala in a re-created look from Off-White’s Fall/Winter 2020 collection. The outfit featured a light grey tulle dress half-draped over a strapless black pantsuit. This is undoubtedly one of the coolest looks I’ve ever seen.
The silhouette draws the eye to the contrast between the two garments, which somehow pair perfectly together. Anthony's look was original, classy, and flawlessly executed. She finished it with plenty of diamonds, which added dimension and sparkle to her otherwise matte look. I couldn’t be more obsessed.
Moving on to some of my least favorite looks....
1. Maya Hawke
While she still looked pretty, Maya Hawke's custom Prada look was definitely not on theme. The dress is pretty on its own, but the tan cape she's wearing over it completely takes away from the elegance of the outfit. To me, it feels like Hawke was trying to emulate multiple aesthetics in one with the incohesiveness of the dress, cape, and hair. Overall, I think the ensemble completely missed the mark, failing to connect to the theme and leaving the outfit feeling unfinished and mismatched.
2. Pharrell Williams
As this year's Met Gala co-chair, I definitely expected more out of Pharrell Williams. While the outfit itself isn't bad, he was completely upstaged by his fellow co-chairs Coleman Domingo and Lewis Hamilton. Williams wore a simple embellished jacket and a pair of black pants. Given his typically bold fashion choices, I think this was a missed opportunity to make an impression on such a high-profile occasion.
3. Sadie Sink
Something about this gown just didn't do it for me. For her Met Gala debut, Sadie Sink's look was definitely a miss. The lace detailing across the chest and sleeves felt much more gothic to me than anything, and I wasn't a fan of the skirt.
Additionally, the silhouette of the dress appeared to be swallowing her. For Sink, I think a pair of high-waisted trousers would've been more suitable to elongate her figure. The jewelry was nothing special, and the hair felt dated. Overall, this outfit looked more like she was attending a funeral or the opera than the Met Gala to me.
Final Thoughts
Thanks for reading about my favorite and least favorite looks from the 2025 Met Gala! Whether you agree with me or not, it's undeniable that the celebrities in attendance this year made bold fashion statements that sparked lots of opinions. From avant-garde to classic designs, the Met Gala continues to push the boundaries of creativity and style.
