Joyful tears and the iconic “I’m going to Disney World,’’ is the usual when a athlete achieves a feat only most can dream of; winning the Super Bowl. For the Seattle Seahawks, the 29–13 victory over the New England Patriots on Feb. 8 wasn’t just a game — it was a silence to “Ghost of Glendale’’ that haunted the franchise for 11 years.
Head coach Mike Macdonald contained the Patriots offense all night long, keeping sophomore quarterback Drake Maye under constant distress. Racking up six sacks total — tied a postseason record — with three coming in the first half alone.
It wasn’t just Macdonald and the defense that became a major contributor, but also the offense. Kenneth Walker III rushed for 131 total yards, Sam Darnold managed the game finishing 19–38, 202 passing yards, and a touchdown. While Walker moved the chains, the scoring was also anchored by kicker Jason Myers, who made history with five field goals — becoming the first player to score 200+ points in a single season with 206.
