TV Networks

Even while it's tempting to browse Instagram, the best method to obtain accurate, unbiased data is to click on headlines from reliable news sources. However, it’s important to compare different sources to prevent bias and false information.

Fox News

Although Fox News provides a lot of coverage from a conservative point of view, viewers should double-check news with other sources to make sure they are getting an accurate and unbiased depiction of events in this age of false information.

CNN News

Although CNN offers extensive national and international reporting, readers must compare CNN's coverage with that of other reliable sources in order to verify facts and avoid depending just on one story because false information is so prevalent these days.

Social Media

Gen Z loves social media, and it's not only for TikTok and memes. It also informs teens of breaking news occurring there in real time. However, social media is not always reliable, as many things are published for fame and attention, so the real question becomes how the Gen Z generation can identify accurate social media that provides accurate information. Always verify information before sharing it to avoid it being falsely shared.

X

X allows teens to keep up with the news, reporters, and influential people who tweet about current affairs, verified information, and comprehensive research. Always make sure to verify posts before accepting them as facts.

TikTok

The TikTok community is full of creators who simplify complicated topics (like politics, social justice, or climate change) into interesting, smaller videos, despite TikTok's reputation as a platform for viral dances. These creators really help teens to understand complex issues around the world by simplifying them for them, allowing the Gen Z generation to be more informed about the current news. Always verify the accuracy of material by visiting other reliable websites, particularly when consuming content from platforms such as TikTok.

Podcasts

Due to their accessibility and ability to be listened to on the move, in the car, or on a cellphone, podcasts have emerged as one of the most popular ways for teenagers to obtain information. They provide discussions of politics, culture, and world events that fit anybody's schedule. Podcasts offer a method to multitask while receiving news.

However, they should be checked for reliability, just like written news, as many podcasters may not be as informed on the topic as you would think. Not only that, but podcasts are highly sensitive sources because podcasters may hold significant biases and openly share their personal opinions.

The Daily by The New York Times

A short and quick daily news podcast that highlights the day's most significant stories. It allows teens to gain information about current events without getting sidetracked, as it is short but informative.

Pod Save America by Crooked Media

This Podcast is provided by former Obama workers with frank and humorous thoughts on U.S. politics. The Podcast offers insightful yet relatable perspectives that provide teens a platform to stay involved in U.S politics without finding it boring or irrelevant. For a balanced perspective, they should be paired with unbiased sources.

Stay Informed, Stay Inspired

Being educated and informed in the current generation requires more than just reading numerous headlines in a newspaper or online; it includes actively participating in the world, trying to make a change to make our world a better place, while actively verifying facts. You may make sure you're staying up to date on the latest social, cultural, and political changes in ways that are important to you and relatable to you by using a variety of reliable podcasts, news websites, social media platforms, and apps that were listed above or similar to those listed.

Double-checking sources, identifying biases, and avoiding relying exclusively on social media for news are essential because no single platform consistently delivers entirely accurate information. Stay informed, stay curious, and most of all, stay involved. The Gen Z generation holds the power to shape the future. We have all the resources to stay informed, but it is our responsibility to make good use of them by avoiding false information and looking for material that empowers, inspires, and educates us to be better human beings in our world by making an impact.
