Self-Discovery Through Creating & Connections

From personal development and nutritional advice to workout tips and wellness activities, Dr. Bate has covered all her audiences’ bases. After completing medical school, Dr.

Bate wanted to share her story so other students would not feel isolated throughout the difficult, long journey. Burnout is the common denominator for most medical students, accompanied by student loans and running out of time for activities apart from studying.

“We’re all multifaceted human beings, and I think the resources that I've shared tell a story of the challenges that I face as a person,” Dr. Bate says. “With each challenge, I've tried to create a resource that can help someone else who is going through a similar challenge.”

Connecting with a diverse community has helped Dr. Bate rediscover her creativity and how she can make a substantial impact across the world with a strong network.

Balancing Life and Work

Genuineness and passion further any goal, which is an important takeaway for any teen seeking to pursue medicine. However, hustle culture and toxic productivity are widespread, which makes it difficult to remain unscathed.

While acknowledging the need for creating a work-life balance, Dr. Bate understands that people move through different phases of life that require more or less commitments. Reaching your goals can often require sacrificing stability or having enough time to prioritize healthier habits. Nobody is perfect and shouldn’t set those expectations for themselves.

“If there's one thing that being a doctor has taught me, it is to actually to never take your health and your ability for granted.”

On her website and YouTube channel, she shares research-backed strategies for time management and incorporating self-care into a packed schedule. On April 27th, 2025, Faye completed the London Marathon and realized how beneficial a positive relationship with exercise can be for physical as well as mental health.

Toxic Productivity and Self-Care

Just like many high-achieving professionals, Dr. Bate is no stranger to impostor syndrome. According to a study conducted by the CDC in 2022, over 46% of healthcare workers reported feeling burned out by societal demands and lacking resources.

“I think the most important lesson I learned from failure is to separate yourself, but that is the hardest thing. We take failures so so so personally… It's just about finding the right guidance, right role models, and right paths to get to that place. But also, I think to separate yourself emotionally. I think you first have to recognize your emotions and process them in a healthy way.”

Dr. Bate also has a few favorite ways to destress after a long week. While some evenings warrant a deserved Netflix binge, she enjoys meditation and journaling for self-reflection.

Future Plans

Now, Dr. Bate’s multifaceted resource network and media presence are taking a new turn. In a recent social media post, Dr.

Bate revealed she may not pursue medicine as a doctor any longer. This choice has been controversial across her platform, and some followers did not react positively.

“It's all about altruism and like, rightly so. I think if people choose to step away from it, it can be seen as…like you're betraying society. You've given up on your commitment.”

This decision is not a step back from her activism but rather a step forward. To broaden her platform and reach a larger international audience, Dr. Bate is committed to her cause: helping others and service. She will be trying to make a difference for women who have been neglected by traditional healthcare systems.

“I will be advocating for people, just in a slightly different way.”

Advice for Aspiring Medical Students

While pursuing medicine can seem daunting, Dr. Bate urges teens not to compromise on their dreams. Ambition is valuable, but so is character and individuality. In a world where trust is waning and fear is contagious, reliable healthcare practitioners are valuable.

“If you choose to do medicine and become a doctor, make medicine your own. Do not feel pressured into sticking to one track. If you find something that you are interested in, follow that path.”

Dr. Bate also draws inspiration from a renowned TV doctor in the United Kingdom: Dr. Nighat Arif. “She's this GP who goes on British television, and she talks about really important taboo women's issueswith confidence and poise.” Dr. Arif’s work is available online, and Bate encourages teens to research and explore.
