Hair is a part of who we are. It's a part of our identity, our culture, and the way we express ourselves. It's no wonder that blue hair has become a symbol of liberals (albeit, a supposedly insulting one), that natural hair and locs have become a part of ethnic pride for African Americans, or that the very idea of being blonde has raised questions about American identity and femininity.

And that's why it's essential to change your hair to match the person you want to be. Below are my personal picks.

Hair Colors

The most important part of hair is color (and hear me out on this!!) Our brains are naturally very sensitive to color. It's perhaps the first thing we notice about a person, and it has such nuance, such individuality, that it expresses what perhaps cannot be in words. Below are the colors I endorse, and why.

Brunette and Reddish Shades

• I cannot express just how deeply I love this Cinnamon Brown shade. It's the perfect mix of just a little out there while maintaining a traditional elegance.
• For Cinnamon's darker, more brooding (more ME) hair color, Mahogany.
• Chestnut Brown has that vibrance I'm sure you realized I love by now.
• While plain, I do love a simple Chocolate Brown.
• Born to Die seems like the best way for me to explain the vibe of Bronze Brunettes.
• Milk Beige is such a subtly elegant color.
• Pink Undertoned-Red is such a unique combination!!
• Fiery-Red Hair is brilliant and filled with personality!

Blonde Shades

• Warm Platinum avoids that awful greyish brown look while staying firmly out of sun-bleached golden territory.
• Pale Golden Blond is literally my favorite shade of blonde ever because it's classic, simple, and natural looking. Perfect for the Girl Next Door Vibes.
• Pearl Blond is the purest white shade, for a silvery glow that seems almost otherworldly.
• White Gold Hair is a slightly warmer version of blond platinum.
• Creamy Blonde is a sweet, perfect sunny shade that has that light personality and confidence that's mesmerizing.

Non-Traditional Colors

• THIS is cool-toned, vibrant, cotton candy pink.
• Blush Pink Hair gives off a soft, forest fairy vibe.
• These Jade-West reminiscent lavender highlights.
• I don't like blue hair in general, but I love hair so dark it almost shines blue.

Hairstyles and Cuts
