Kin is the story of two best friends, Vernice and Annie, two motherless daughters raised in Honeysuckle, Louisiana. They have been best friends and neighbors since the earliest years of their lives, but sadly, they are drifted apart by life.
Vernice was raised by her aunt, who took her under her wing after her mother’s death, and she is determined to give Vernice a better life somewhere far away from Honeysuckle. So, at the young age of 18, Vernice leaves for Spelman College, where she then joins a sisterhood of powerfully connected Black women.
However, Annie, on the other hand, abandoned by her mother as a child and fixated on the idea of finding her in order to fill the hole left by her absence, sets off on a cross-country search for her long-lost mother—an adventure of adversity and beauty.
Kin is truly a story of mothers and daughters, and a beautiful one at that. This novel is set to release on the 24th of February, and the book is up for preorders.
"Kin is the kind of all-encompassing reading experience I’m always hoping to find: smart and funny and deftly profound. This is Tayari Jones’s very best work.” —Ann Patchett, author of Tom Lake

Brawler: Stories by Lauren Groff
Brawler: Stories is set to be published on the 24th of February. It is a collection of nine stand-alone short stories written by Lauren Groff that all together talk about the pure and dark parts of human nature and the internal conflict and struggle between good and bad, right and wrong, light and dark.
The stories fall on different time periods, going back as far as the 1950s, and characters with different backgrounds, identity, and struggles. Some of these situations include a woman forced to take care of her ill sibling, a high school athlete struggling with family, faith, and identity, a mother dealing with loss, a privileged, arrogant man facing the consequences of his decisions.
(I for one would really love to read this book)

The Astral Library: A Novel by Kate Quinn
The Astral Library works a little differently. It’s a fantasy novel about being able to fall into the world of the book you’re reading to immerse yourself in a new world physically and mentally. A tale of fantasy and wonder. In this world, books aren’t objects but doors to new worlds, new realities, and adventures.
The story follows Alexandria “Alix” Watson, a young woman living in Boston who has always found comfort in the pages of novels after a difficult childhood in the foster-care system.
Living and working off low-paying jobs and dreaming of a better life, Alix often escapes reality by falling into her favorite novels in the Boston Public Library. However, one day she finds a hidden passageway into the Astral Library, a place where you can dive headfirst into the pages of a book. There she meets the Librarian, an immortal being, a guardian that protects this library of wonder. The Librarian helps people escape into their beloved books, but there is a dark force looking to destroy the library and everyone in it.
So Alix and the Librarian set forth on an amazing adventure of literature to save the library, where anything and everything can happen. Many people think that libraries are boring, not this one, that’s for sure. This novel is truly a work of pure fantasy and magical realism.
(The Astral Library is hitting shelves on the 17th of February)
