Me personally I don't like video games, I literally only play Roblox and game house games, that's it. But we are not here to be biased! Today we will be talking about if video games deserve the bad rep they get. We will be exploring the yes and no's on why they deserve the bad rep and why they don't. It's absolutely going to be one heck of a ride today.

I know we all know what video games are but for those that have been living under a rock, I think it's only fair to explain what they are anyways.
There are different types of video games. One is a game that is digital from your phone while the other is just a setup or electronic device that is specifically for video games. Ditigital video games from your phone are apps like Roblox, Minecraft, cooking games, design games, etc. Ditigial video games from your phone is honestly better in my opinion because it's right from your phone, not only that but you can have MULTIPULE games on there while on some electronic devices for a video games only take one or a few at a time. Also I'm pretty sure all the seperate video games are also on your phone's app store so it's no point in buying a separate game, at least that's what I think. A electronic device specifically for video games vary depending on the games and what electronic device you get it on. Some you have to buy while others you need like a chip for old newtendoes. It's just a hassle that I would want to go through but many like being on the specific device for that game like PlayStations or other electronic devices for games.

Do They Deserve The Bad Rep
Considering most teenagers and pre-teens get hooked on video games and never leave, I would say yes. Video games are so easily influenced towards teenagers in general and spending a whole lot of time everyday on video games can be very bad for your mental health and physical health. It's like getting trapped in a void that you cannot escape unless you really try. I used to be this way, I used to play them nonstop, everyday, all day. I noticed that I started being more rude, snappy, etc. All because I was so hooked on video games at such a young age. I struggled with this for like 2 years, until I realized there is so much more to life than just a screen and honestly now, I am literally never on my phone or computer unless I'm working or for school.
Being disconnected from everything is totally okay. If anything, I advise it. Video games have a bad rep for a reason and mostly that reason is because teens spend all their time trying to get a higher score than someone else or are exploring worlds that don't even exist. And now in this generation, schools and jobs are influencing this behavior. It's okay to play video games but to spend all your time on them is just too much. I've had friends tell me that they stay up for 3 days straight playing a stupid game that will most likely fall off in a year from now.
Not only this but video games have a bad rep for many other reasons. Including, community (for games that involve strangers or connecting with other people), innaporpriate games for children, etc. The list is never ending and if I'm being honest, I would love to go back to the days where there were no video games at all, no social media, and just live. It was such a good time back then and our generation desperately needs to be sent back into time.

Why They Don't Deserve The Bad Rep
Honestly I am not fully against video games, so don't get the wrong idea. Video games are fun for a short period of time. I specifically love roblox because of the different worlds, jobs, activities, and obbies you can enjoy. I used to play this game heavily and I used to have the most fun just playing and joking around with my siblings.
Video games are not all bad, sometimes it's a big stress reliever after a long day and I would totally play video games from time to time if my schedule wasn't so packed. While video games can be dangerous on the community topic, it's also kind of nice to interact and play games with others as well. BUT if you do so, make sure you get permission and do it safely. There isn't just kids on these games anymore. These communities on video games can be fun and playful while also being dangerous. But I'm not totally against the idea of communities in video games.
There are times where video games get bad rep for mistakes or things that are not related to the games. And that isn't their fault. It's the communities fault for being involved in games they shouldn't be in the first place. While you cannot believe everything on the internet, some of the things you see or hear about games may be true. Video games are supposed to be fun and are meant to be played for short periods of time.

This is just my take on video games, the good side and the bad side. But what do you think? Do video games deserve the bad rep they get or no?
