Taking a break doesn’t have to mean wasting time. There are numerous pleasurable and beneficial ways to refuel. Here are some fun and refreshing ideas to make the most of your study breaks!

Go For a Walk

Walking is a great way to help you regain your focus. One of the best ways to spend your time relaxing during studies is by walking. You are in motion.

Even just a little walk within your neighborhood or university will lift your mood. As you walk, take in the view around you. That small portion of mindfulness will fight off stress and reset the brain. This also gets the blood circulating, which can heighten your energy and help you focus once you sit down to study. If you can find a friend to come along with you, all the better! It's a great opportunity to catch up, and you can have some laughs. So next time you need a break, consider lacing up your shoes and taking a walk-you'll feel refreshed!

Meditate

One of the best things one could do is meditation over study breaks; it clears the mind and rejuvenates a person before they come back to what they were doing. This technique requires just a few minutes. First, find a quiet place where you feel comfortable; it may be in your room or perhaps in an uptown park.

Close your eyes and take a deep breath in through your nose, then slowly breathe out through your mouth. Focus on your breath; when your mind starts wandering, bring the focus back gently to your breathing. If it's your first time meditating, don't be afraid to use either an app or guided video to help you through it. You can set your timer for 5-10 minutes, too, just in case. This simple habit can soothe your mind, increasing your focus so that you may get back to studying in no time!

Exercise

A little exercise during your study break will raise your energy level and clear your head. All you need is a few minutes of moving around. Find yourself a space where you can comfortably move around-be it your living room or outdoors if the weather is nice.

Shoot for about 5-10 minutes, and turn on some fun music to keep you going. Mix it up a bit each day so you are working out a little different and having fun. If possible, grab a friend to join you. Take a minute to cool down and stretch afterwards. This little break will recharge you while you go on with your studies!

Read a Book

A nice book to read during study breaks will help one to unwind and may even get your creative juices going. Pick up a book of your interest- perhaps a novel or a compilation of short stories. Spend about 10 to 15 minutes on it and go find a cozy nook to retire in.

Put your phone aside to focus on the story and not be disturbed. Enjoy the words; take your time. At the end of your read, reflect on what you read or learned. At any point in the book, if you get bored, just switch to another one or a different genre. In fact, it actually helps to restore you for your next academic study session!

Put some music on while you're on a break. This will help get you relaxed and reenergized. It may very well lift your mood and help clear your mind.

Think of exactly what you want to listen to: some instrumental relaxing tracks, or happy pop songs that give you energy. Preparing the playlist in advance will save you from scrolling during your study break. Keep the volume at a comfortable level, whether using headphones or playing it through speakers. If you feel like it, get up and dance a little-it's fun to shake off some stress! You might even discover new artists or genres that appeal to your taste, which can be fun on its own. It refreshes the mind and can give you a good boost of energy when you get back to studying.

Make a Quick Snack

Having a snack between study breaks may help you refuel and keep your energy up. You don't need anything too complicated, just simple, healthy items like fresh fruit, vegetables with hummus dip, or some nuts. Sometimes, if you have extra time earlier in the day, you may even prepare some snacks.

Foods that require little work, such as cutting up fruits and portioning nuts, will save you time later. And make sure to drink some water; staying hydrated is key! Reuniting with a friend over your break really rejuvenates and uplifts your spirit. Even casual conversations take the edge off from studying and are a nice reminder that you are not alone. Call, text, or video - whatever works for you.

Keep the topic light and fun: share a funny story or ask about their day. It's nice to just put your study books aside and focus on each other for a bit. If you have the time, you could even schedule a future hangout so you have something to look forward to. Close off by letting your friend know you had a nice time catching up. Not only does talking with someone during your break boost your mood, but it also gives a lot to your friendship, which in turn makes it way easier to return to studying.
