The Holiday season is right around the corner, shops are filling up with Holiday deals, and people everywhere are wishing for some snow. While the Classic, "All I Want for Christmas is You" blasting from radio stations is essential for the holiday spirit, this year, I am sharing some other Holiday essentials to live up the season!

The Christmas Waltz is an adorable acoustic guitar song, so it is perfect for the background of a Holiday dinner. The song has been covered by the likes of Norah Jones and Frank Sinatra, but my favorite version is by She & Him. Their song, "I thought I saw your face today" has been trending on social media recently, so their version of this Christmas song totally fits the time.

2) Christmas Treat - Julian Casablancas
I haven't really heard many people talking about this song. I accidentally stumbled upon it when I was shuffling some Holiday music to find something for this article. I turned out to really like its electronic, regular Julian Casablancas style.
He has such a unique flavor that is really noticeable here. Still upbeat, sort of like "Last Nite" by his band, The Strokes, this song is sure to get everyone dancing!
3) Like It's Christmas - The Jonas Brothers
What is Christmas without a cheesy, but fun, pop song. "Like it's Christmas" is everything you want in Holiday music: energetic, catchy, and just a little romantic. It is so easy to sing along to this song, and I genuinely can't imagine someone listening to it without a smile on their face. The song starts with a short verse illustrating a perfect Christmas, and then blasts into a ear-worm worthy chorus.
4) My Christmas List - Simple Plan
What is a playlist without a little bit of punk-rock? Simple Plan (I'm Just a Kid) released this gem in the early 2000s. Like any punk band, of course, there is an underlying message behind their lyrics, in this case witty remarks about Christmas and consumerism. Set behind an iconic punk production is a set of easy-to-remember lyrics that exude dad music.
5) Christmas Lights - Coldplay
"Christmas Lights" is a sadder one to end off this list. Although Christmas is about fun and family, this song faces the reality that winter, especially, can be a lonely month for a lot of people. Typically, this feeling is overshadowed by loud Christmas Carols; however, I feel like this song is an anthem for those who need a minute to reflect. It starts mellow, "Christmas night/another fight" but the chorus sparks a flicker of hope, "I'm up here holding on/To all those chandeliers of hope." This is a slower piano ballad for the most part, so it might be fun to learn and try yourself!
Conclusion
Hopefully these 5 songs are enough to quench your Holiday music thirst. As someone who does not LOVE Christmas music, I can relate to someone who might be struggling to find a song they actually like. Even though it's fun to scream all the lyrics to "Last Christmas" with your best friends, it is also nice to slow things down with a jazzy holiday song, or think about the implications of the season.
