With the vast option of movies playing in theaters or streaming, there are always a few that stand out the most. Personally, three movies this year have stuck with me the most out of all the ones I've watched. These are my three favorite motion pictures of this year….

I was already excited for this film because I loved the first Dune so much. Never in my wildest dream could I have expected what this movie would bring to the table. Simply put: it's God's gift to cinema.
An astonishing achievement. Everything works - the cast, characters, screenplay, direction, soundtrack, cinematography, production design and etc. This was one of the greatest theater experiences I've ever witnessed. It was truly an unforgettable experience and one of the greatest films of all time, as well as one of the greatest sequels of all time. It will go down in history….every sequel should aspire to be like this one. Timothée Chalamet, Austin Butler, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Josh Brolin, Rebecca Ferguson…..simply one of the best ensemble cast in recent years. Every single one of them played their characters brilliantly, each having their own unique approach to it. Chalamet will probably get a Best Actor nomination next year. The movie in general will absolutely sweep the Oscars next year, without a doubt. In 2027, when Dune: Messiah comes out and director Denis Villeneuve (the best of his generation) manages to stick the landing, the DUNE trilogy will enter the top 5 greatest trilogies in cinema history.
Dune: Part Two tells the story of Paul Atreides uniting with the Fremen while seeking revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family in the first film.

2 - Challengers
I always go back and forth between Challengers and Dune 2 as the best of this year, but Challengers has to come in second place. This movie was breathtaking to watch on the big screen. Zendaya brought her A-game once again and delivered an outstanding performance as tennis player Tashi Duncan, along with her castmates Mike Faist and Josh O'Connor; a terrific trio to watch play out on screen.
One of my favorite directors, Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your name, Suspira, Bones and All) directed this motion picture, and I believe it to be his finest work to date. His vision is unparalleled, along with a script that's fast-paced and ambitious in its structure, which culminated in one of the most intense tennis matches I’ve ever seen on screen. And that soundtrack? It gets your blood pumping by how electric it is. A 10/10.
Challengers tells the story of Tashi Duncan, a famous tennis player turned coach, who transformed her husband, Art, from a mediocre player into a world-famous champion, and he finds himself standing across the net from Patrick, his former best friend and Tashi's former boyfriend.
3 - Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga
This movie, like Dune 2, showed a lot of promise with its trailers. However, I wouldn't have expected it to be just as good as it turned out to actually be. Visionary director George Miller, now 80 years old, reminded audiences once again why he's one of the best living action directors to have ever lived.
This guy just gets it - from a story perspective, to the flawless practical effects in the very long but entertaining action sequences along the deserted wastelands that the Mad Max Saga offers, to its breathtaking cinematography, and much more... The two main leads - Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth - gave the best performances of their careers so far with this film, nothing short of outstanding. Hemsworth in particular, who, in my opinion, was able to perfectly come out of his “Thor” shadow and remind audiences how good of an actor he is when it comes to dramatic roles. George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) remains one of the best action films ever made, and I thought Furiosa wouldn't come close to that masterpiece, let alone surpass it. But, It did just that. Once again, Mr. Miller should never be doubted as a storyteller.
This movie takes place 10 years before the events of Fury Road, and tells the story of a young Furiosa, who gets caught in the crossfire of two tyrannical warlords; as they fight for dominance, Furiosa finds herself in a war she cannot run away from.
End Thoughts
These are the three films that have impacted me the most this year. There were many other flicks that I enjoyed but just couldn't make this all-inclusive list. Some like Civil War, Inside Out 2, Twisters, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, IF, Saturday Night Live, Anora, Deadpool & Wolverine, The Wild Robot, Alien: Romulus, Fall Guy, and many more…. So if you're interested in any of these wonderful movies, I hope you find them as captivating as I did!
All these different films I listed showcase that storytelling is a gift that keeps on giving. When done right, it is something just truly unforgettable.
