February 13, 2022

The best romance comedies make you feel young and in love, and can be enjoyed by different generations. From angst movies featuring Julia Styles to wholesome movies which will make you cry, here are some of the best rom- com's I have seen, which will make you never forget what it feels like to fall in love for the first time.

1. 10 Things I Hate About You

10 Things I Hate About You features a quiet and smart girl, Kat (Julia Styles), and her younger sister Bianca (Larisa Oleynik), who, unfortunately for her, is very popular. Bianca wants to get a boyfriend, but her father won't allow her to date unless Kat has a boyfriend. Strings are pulled to favor Bianca, and Kat soon finds herself in front of Patrick Verona (Heath Ledger). Fans of enemies to lovers may want to tune in to this one.

2. She's All That

Zach Siler (Freddie Prinze Jr.), is the popular guy at his school, dating Taylor (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe), his cheerleader girlfriend. Things begin to fall apart when she breaks up with him for someone else. To uphold his reputation, he's dared to do an impossible challenge to make a nerdy girl become the school's next prom queen. There is a spinoff for She's all that called He's all that, but the originals are always better.

3. Clueless

Based on Jane Austen's 1815 novel, "Emma", Cher (Alicia Silverstone) is at the top of her popularity peak and finds herself being a matchmaker for others. She decides to give a new girl, Tai (Brittany Murphy), a makeover and realizes that the new student has now become more popular than her. Her disapproving ex-stepbrother, (Paul Rudd) was right about how misguided she was and unexpectedly falls in love with him. Although an unexpected plot, this movie is a hit from the '90s and has the best outfits anyone has ever seen.

4. Kyō no Kira-Kun

Based on a Japanese Magna, and introduces Ninon Okamura, an introverted high school girl. She only talks to her parents and is a big animal lover. Her life changes when she sees Yuiji Kira near a lake crying, who she befriends because she assumed he was lonely, but turns out he was going to die soon because of heart disease.

Ninon encourages Kira to abandon his lewd lifestyle and instead fill his life with happiness, vowing to always remain by his side, although knowing their relationship likely has no future. You can watch this on dramacool or asianwiki (you may want to get an ad blocker).

5. Jab We Met

Aditya (Shahid Kapoor), a quiet and reserved man, boards a train and is on the verge of suicide due to a breakup. He meets a girl named Geet (Kareena Kapoor), a high-spirited extroverted girl who plans to elope with her boyfriend and finds himself pulled into her crazy life. Not a high school romance, but it is still very enjoyable.

6. Pride and Prejudice

Elizabeth Bennet (Keira Knightley) lives in the English countryside, facing incredible pressure from her family to marry as she is the eldest in her house. Sparks fly when Elizabeth meets Mr. Darcy (Matthew MacFadyen), who is a handsome and upper-class man. Darcy's overly reserved nature threatens their relationship, even though they have obvious chemistry.

7. 3 idiots

3 idiots is a mixture of romance and coming of age, as it features the college lives of Farhan, Raju, and Rancho. As the years' pass, a bet takes them back to their college memories and gives them a chance to look for their long-lost friend, whose existence has been off the radar. The movie drew inspiration from an engineer named Sonam Wangchuk, who is the real-life "Phunsukh Wangdu."

8. Your Eyes Tell

Rui is an ex-boxer who used to work for a shady job as a debt collector. He has no friends and lives his life as a deliveryman and working in the parking lot. One day at work, he meets Akari, a blind yet cheerful girl, and falls in love with her.

The movie is very wholesome, and the characters have good chemistry between them. The movie is a remake of the Korean version, "Always", and there is also a Hindi version named, "Do lafzon ki kahani". You can watch the Japanese version on Dramacool or AsianWiki, or any other Japanese streaming website.

Have fun watching these Rom Coms, and have a great valentine's day!
